DOWNTOWN VISIONS
Downtown Visions, Wilmington’s nonprofit management of the business improvement district, partnered with Cool Nerds Marketing to modernize and elevate their social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. Our goal was to showcase the vibrant energy, diverse community, and ongoing revitalization efforts of Downtown Wilmington in a way that was fresh, relevant, and engaging for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
As a nonprofit, Downtown Visions is dedicated to improving the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and visits downtown. Through safety initiatives, beautification projects, small business support, and cultural programming, they have been the driving force behind creating a thriving, welcoming community. They wanted their digital presence to reflect this mission, capturing both the heritage and progress of Wilmington while tapping into modern, story-driven social media trends.
As the Social Media Strategist, I led the planning and execution of Downtown Visions’ content strategy, developing platform-specific calendars and campaigns that highlighted local businesses, community events, and neighborhood improvements. I worked hands-on in creative production—photography, videography, design, and editing—to authentically showcase downtown’s unique character and people.
Our work also included collaborations with local business owners, community leaders, and influencers whose voices aligned to promote the community of Wilmington. These partnerships helped amplify awareness of seasonal events, small business spotlights, and community-driven initiatives—extending Downtown Visions’ reach and reinforcing its role as a trusted advocate for the city’s growth.
By balancing heritage storytelling with forward-looking content, we helped position Downtown Visions as not only a steward of Wilmington’s history but also a champion of its evolving future. The result was a digital presence that was visually engaging, strategically designed, and true to the nonprofit’s mission of strengthening community life in downtown Wilmington.
Results:
Facebook: 9,700 followers to 11,800 followers 121% increase
Instagram: 5,000 followers to 8,200 followers: 164% increase
Tiktok: 75 followers to 794 followers: 1,058% increase

Goal:
Inspire residents, visitors, and local businesses to engage with Downtown Wilmington by highlighting unique experiences, events, and local businesses to check out, boosting awareness, participation, and regional pride.
Approach:
Developed & executed a community-driven influencer campaign that celebrated downtown’s culture, dining, and small business scene.
Managed end-to-end influencer coordination, including vetting, communication, content timelines, and logistics.
Selected local influencers and community voices based on alignment with Downtown Visions’ mission, audience engagement, and ability to create authentic, share-worthy content.
Results:
Increased engagement on event and business-focused posts across Instagram & TikTok.
Strengthened Downtown Wilmington’s perception as a vibrant, welcoming destination for both everyday life & special occasions.
